Who is this for?

This workshop is designed for any non-technical people who are frustrated and overwhelmed at work and in need of a better way to solve problems and create solutions, without adding even more complexity to their world.

What will I take away?

By the end of the workshop - both the introductory 1 hour and extended week long sprint - you’ll have a tangible and interactive working prototype of a solution to a real-world problem, along with the skills and confidence to apply the design thinking process to any challenge you face. You'll feel empowered to use AI as a companion to alleviate the pressures of your daily work.

Where and when will it be?

This is a fully remote event, with the option of having an in-person event in Durban, Umhlanga, and Ballito, so you can join from anywhere in the world. The introductory workshop is a shortened version that covers the main phases of the process in one hour. The week long sprint is scheduled in 90-min sessions daily from Monday to Friday in the UCT+2 timezone. There will be a mix of live sessions and self-paced work. We’ll provide a detailed schedule and instructions on how to join the sessions closer to the event.

Tell me more about the program.

Prior to the scheduled sessions we'll agree on a focus area in a Discovery call. Monday kicks off with a theme reveal and collaborative brainstorming session where the whole team participates. For larger groups we'll form teams based on interest in a specific problem area to encourage ownership.

Tuesday focuses on framing the problem and ensuring everyone is focused on the right underlying need. Next we'll move into initial brainstorming where we'll go through a number of iterations to agree on a solution, followed by user research, heading out into the real world to talk with real people. The next day we'll share our insights and start designing a prototype and have the opportunity to get initial feedback from the key stakeholders, Dragon's Den style.

We'll end the week finalize prototypes and validate ideas, determining the effectiveness of a proposed solution. Should a particular solution be highly effective, we'll go into an optional second phase of implementation using the Navigator Sessions program as baseline.

How much time do I need to commit?

There is a time commitment of at least 2 - 4 hours per day required in order to get the most out of the week. The daily online workshops lasts approximately 90 minutes each, followed by offline activities with participants free to choose how much effort they want to put into the project. For best results, it's required that half a work day is dedicated to the project for the duration of the sprint.

To make the program accessible to everyone, we offer a sliding scale based on your ability to pay. You have the option to pay the full amount or a reduced rate with a tapered down commission based on savings or profits as a result of the innovation. Do I need to prepare anything?

We'll have a 60 - 90 minute pre-workshop discovery call to discuss your goals and expectations. In this meeting we'll agree on the commitment level based on your specific needs.

What role does AI play?

AI is integrated throughout the program to practically introduce frameworks and best practices to get the most out of prompting. This program is designed as a practical and hands-on AI enablement workshop to empower those traditionally excluded from technology to become confident in using AI at work.
